The Shanghai Sunrise Team
Yulia Yan, our volunteer Executive Director. Yulia Yan, who was our volunteer Sponsor Relations Manager in 2018/2019, returned to Shanghai Sunrise in her new role as head of our Executive team. She holds a Master of Science degree in Organizational & Business Psychology from the University of Liverpool (UK) and a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the Far East State Technical University (Russia). She also volunteers with Lifeline in Shanghai and speaks Russian, English and Mandarin.
Meet Natalie, our volunteer Communications Manager. When she is not writing an article for our blog or implementing our marketing and communications strategy, you will most probably find her at a playdate with her little daughter. And if not, she’s off traveling in China or Asia.
Meet Karin, our volunteer Community Events Manager. When Karin's not busy organizing our community events to support Shanghai Sunrise's fundraising and merchandise sales, you'll find her learning Mandarin, watching Chinese films, and playing Mahjong!
Meet Dannielle, who joined Shanghai Sunrise as a volunteer in 2019. With over 25 year of business management experience, she’s providing the team with operations resources and support. As a Chinese-Canadian, she thoroughly enjoys her time in Shanghai, exploring the city on her bike every weekend.
Meet Helen, our volunteer Fundraising Events Manager. When Helen's not busy doing continuous improvement projects or organizing events for Shanghai Sunrise, you will find her being walked by her dog while trying to learn yet another language.
Meet Diana, who joined Shanghai Sunrise as a volunteer in 2019. She is the bridge between our communications and sponsor relations team. When not volunteering or traveling the world, you’ll find her exploring various coffee shops in the Former French Concession, writing, reading and practicing yoga.
Meet Kathy, who joined Shanghai Sunrise as a full time staff in February 2019, Kathy has helped our field visit team as a volunteer to visit the students’ families for a few years. She is very patient, approachable, and a warmhearted person. She enjoys cooking and spending time with her family.
Meet Christine, our volunteer in charge of volunteer recruitment and management. She is a junior broker at a security company but has a strong interest in digital marketing and meeting people of different backgrounds. When she is not recruiting volunteers, or updating our WeChat blog, she spends time playing ukulele, swimming and reading books on philosophy.
