Shanghai Sunrise is thrilled to partner with philanthropist and talented photographer Dr Astrid Krehan to raise funds for educational scholarships in Shanghai.
The collaboration began in 2017 when Astrid, a Director and Lifetime Platinum Benefactor of Shanghai Sunrise, generously offered to support the organization's annual fundraiser with a photographic exhibition, where proceeds from all sales would support Shanghai Sunrise's continued work in the community and fund educational scholarships for underprivileged youth in Shanghai. The evening was a great success and welcomed over 180 guests, raising over RMB 50,000. To learn more about the event, please check out our Blog.
On November 16, 2018, Shanghai Sunrise longtime sponsors Haworth and St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation co-hosted CHINA IN COLOR, an exclusive charity photo exhibition of Astrid’s latest work and special highlights. The event took place at Haworth Organic Workspace in Jing’an Kerry Centre and raised over RMB 30,000 to support Shanghai Sunrise’s high school and university scholarship program for underprivileged young students in Shanghai. Thanks to her continued generosity, works from the series CHINA IN COLOR can still be purchased exclusively through Shanghai Sunrise, with funds continuing to support young students in the program.

About the Artist:
Born in Nuremberg, Germany, Astrid Krehan’s original works convert modern-day spaces and objects into highly saturated color images. Her fluid series often verges on the abstract, whether capturing the tranquility of rural China or the vibrant aura of Shanghai, where Astrid has lived and worked since 2014. Astrid studied with renowned photojournalist Scott Davis, traveling to remote destinations to hone her skills and subsequently refining her own visual and conceptual vocabulary, which emerges through her play with light and texture. Her images are printed on high quality Hahnemühle Fine Art Paper, coated with Plexiglas® acrylic face mounting on aluminum backing. A doctor of natural sciences, Astrid’s photographs reveal a compassionate understanding of the living world. To view more work by Astrid Krehan, please visit www.astridkrehan.com.
