NOVEMBER 2011 CAREER DAY HELD at Hilton Shanghai for Shanghai Sunrise third and fourth year college students
As pictured below, Shanghai Sunrise students attend a workshop session aimed at helping them understand the intricacies of securing a good job after graduation. We gratefully acknowledge the support of our volunteers who helped make this event possible:
Ian Crawford, a sponsor of a Sunrise student, has 14 years of experience in China and is now a visiting professor at the Sino-British College Shanghai. Before he was a Commercial Director at BP (British Petroleum) and later the Executive Director of the British Chamber of Commerce Shanghai. As a result he has a deep understanding and practical experience of business in the Chinese market.
Crystal He works for Linklaters, a global law firm, that is also a sponsor of 6 students in our program. She has more than 11 years of experience in Human Resources and spends half of her time on graduate recruitment. For that purpose she visits more than 30 universities in China and reviews more than 1.000 resumes from graduates.
Lily Lu has fifteen-plus years’ experience in Human resources management. She was responsible for re-alignment of company structures, policies, operational procedures and also compensation and benefit schemes. She currently works partly for Bisearch Group, responsible for interviewing and selecting local and foreign candidates for management positions, and for a French Business School, facilitating career workshops etc.
BEAN is a networking, volunteering, and social group for young professionals in Shanghai focused on building friendships around charitable causes. Our BEAN volunteers on Career Day were: Amanda Qu, who has experience in business development and recruiting of for example sales and engineering professionals. At present she works for ALS International and specializes in hiring senior HR professionals for multinational companies in Greater China as a headhunter, and Nicola Haffenden and Sylvia Siu, who helped interpret as necessary.
